For me, painting is an instinct, I abandon my formal training in favor of less traditional methods of applying paint, using color directly out of the tube, intuitively placing value and stylizing proportions.

I am not a factory painter, going through a series of processes in order to arrive at a product with no feeling behind it. Instead I wait for inspiration, or I find it through unexpected experiences through literature, countercultural works, music and mathematics.  When galvanized, I can create 2 to 4 paintings in a night.

Elevate is a bold, new series of art that explores the psychological interrelationships of color and space, as well as metanarrative on “being” and “becoming.” Elevate is greatly influenced by the works of Josef Albers and Henry Ossawa Tanner.  It affirms the Post-Black Movement, which questions the vast human experience that lies beyond “Black Struggle.”
