African Americans for the Arts
Angela Ferguson
.

Color…textures…mood and a tad bit of whimsy. Angela C Ferguson utilizes these four elements not only in creating her soft sculpture art dolls and quilts but also in her day to day life. It’s all in the details from head to toe. Angela has been a crafter since the 2nd grade. Blessed with a wild imagination and the ability to convey those thoughts through creative arts has won her several local awards and a national honorable mention, thus far. She has taught art doll-making for home-schooled children at the Mable House Arts Center in Cobb County and held a free art doll class at their “Storytelling Festival” for several years. She also participated in the National Institutes for Health’s “Bring Your Child to Work Day” festivities for several years for 100 persons, not only the children but adults as well.
Angela is a self-taught visual artist creating mostly in cloth, polymer clay and found objects. She’s also a one-of-a-kind jewelry designer and an art quilt designer.
Artist Statement
I like that, “one thought” that, “one moment in time,” to be captured forever. Through the use of colorful cloths, mixed medias, style and those bits and pieces of creative information, that stores in the crevices of my imagination, all married together I create from my soul, one-of-a-kind soft sculpture dolls and quilts that creates a mood and invokes conversations. Some private…some not so private!
